As the campaign season rages on, some candidates continue to tell the voters that the answer isn't more money for transportation, but trimming down and transforming the Virginia Department of Transportation into a leaner, more efficient, more budget-conscious operation.

In short, the problem is not VDOT's failure to streamline and become more efficient, but the General Assembly's failure to work in a bipartisan manner to provide the transportation revenue we need.
